With Headquarters based in California, Fire Eye provides companies with protection against the potential of advanced cyber threats.
The scheme followed on from Studio 4’s design of their London Headquarters. The successful joinery, furnishings and finishes from the London project were developed for the larger, open plan arrangement for the Cork Technical support centre. The brief included open plan areas for up to 90 people and a suite of meeting rooms, conference room and a large training room.
Care was taken to ensure the design fully acknowledged the acoustic challenges of the open plan arrangement. This involved the use of acoustic ceilings, felt wall panels, and acoustic screens between the desks. The introduction of elegant vertical timber to the curved partitions added a dramatic character to the Cork scheme but also included an acoustic sound absorption function. The cafe area with exposed painted soffit, hanging baffles, drop light fittings and high quality upholstered furniture gives a great contrast from the working space whilst also addressing the acoustic issues. The project was short-listed for the Irish Fit-Out Awards in 2014.
