Master planning is a key component of the work carried out by Studio 4 Design. This work ranges from compiling detailed Estate Control Plans, identifying key issues with current infrastructure, to Development Control Plans for future reorganisation of a hospital campus. We aim to provide clear strategies for future planning of clinical and support facilities over what can be significant timescales. STUDIO 4’s expertise in this field has led us to be employed as Consultant Architects by other leading Architectural Practices.

Example: Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton

STUDIO 4 worked with Sheppard Robson Architects to produce a DCP for the hospital site. We analysed the existing estate and the Trust’s proposed clinical models to establish a number of whole site objectives which were then adopted into a masterplan. The study proposed a restructuring of the campus by improving clinical adjacencies, introducing landscaped public areas and clarifying access and movement around the hospital.
